The Optris PI 450i is an Infrared camera for research and process control. The PI 450i LT thermal camera emphasizes measurement stability and robustness. The Infrared camera 's uncooled microbolometer with 382 × 288 pixels captures radiometric images from −20 °C to 900 °C. In addition, the range can extend to 1500 °C. Moreover, the thermal camera runs up to 80 Hz, so rapid temperature changes are recorded with less motion blur. Thanks to low power draw and minimal onboard processing, it outputs raw radiometric data. Consequently, it tolerates ambient temperatures up to 80 °C and reduces drift. This design also mitigates overheating seen in many high-power thermal camera

Moreover, a 17 µm pixel pitch is optimized for long-wave infrared. It enables small-spot measurements from about 3 × 3 pixels. In addition, interchangeable lenses—from telephoto to wide-angle—let users set the field of view and working distance precisely. Thus, the number of effective pixels on target increases.

For automation, the PI 450i combines durable hardware with practical signalling. The optional Industrial Process Interface outputs up to three temperatures or alarms to a process control. It also supports external triggering and synchronization. Furthermore, PIX connect  software offers real-time analysis, hot and cold spot tools, histograms, and trend plots. A line-scan mode converts the 2D image into a continuous temperature profile along a defined line.
